It is ideal for those interested in pursuing related university or college courses and for students who have completed high school and seek internship opportunities to gain practical experience in the field.
What will you be learning in this internship?
Day 1: Introduction to Computer Science (AM) and Programming Fundamentals (PM)
In the morning, interns will be introduced to the various fields within computer science, exploring their roles in technological advancement. They will learn about specialised areas such as software development, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. In the afternoon, interns will explore the fundamentals of programming, including syntax, logic, and problem-solving.
Day 2: Cybersecurity (AM) and Networking (PM)
In the morning, interns will explore the importance of cybersecurity in protecting data and systems. They will examine key topics such as encryption, ethical hacking, and cybersecurity threats, as well as best practices for digital security. In the afternoon, they will learn about computer networking, including how data is transmitted over the internet, networking protocols, and the role of cloud computing in modern technology.
Day 3: Data Science (AM) and Artificial Intelligence (PM)
In the morning, interns will study data science, learning how businesses and researchers use data analytics to make informed decisions. In the afternoon, they will delve into artificial intelligence (AI), understanding its applications in different fields.
Day 4: Software Development (AM) and Web Technologies (PM)
In the morning, interns will learn about software development, including software engineering principles, development methodologies, and coding best practices. In the afternoon, they will explore web development technologies.
Day 5: Reflection (AM) and Final Assessment (PM)
In the morning, interns will reflect on their experiences throughout the internship. They will choose one area of computer science that interests them the most, conduct further research, and write a 300-word reflection on its importance in the field. In the afternoon, they will complete a final assessment quiz with 25 multiple-choice questions covering all topics studied during the internship. A pass mark of 80% is required, and interns will have the opportunity to retake the quiz if necessary.
