It is ideal for those interested in pursuing related university or college courses and for students who have completed high school and are seeking practical experience in the field.
What will you be learning in this internship?
Day 1: Introduction to Cybersecurity & non-Cybersecurity Departments (AM) and Client Services (PM)
In the morning session, interns will explore the types and functions of various cybersecurity departments and their role in protecting digital systems and data. Cybersecurity organisations of various sizes will normally have specilaised cybersecurity departments staffed by qualified professionals. In the afternoon, Interns will learn the fundamentals of client services in cybersecurity, including how to identify and understand client needs, conduct research, and create client profiles.
Day 2: Introduction to Network Security (AM) and Cloud Security (PM)
In the morning session, interns will learn the principles of network security, including how to protect computer networks from cyber threats. They will explore key security measures such as access control, firewalls, network segmentation, and regular updates to prevent cyberattacks. In the afternoon, they will learn the basics of cloud security and why it is essential for protecting data stored online. They will understand how cloud storage works, including different cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
Day 3: Introduction to Cyber Threat Intelligence (AM) and Security Operations Center (PM)
In the morning session, interns will learn the basics of Cyber Threat Intelligence and how it helps organisations detect, analyse, and respond to cyber threats. Interns will explore key security practices like data collection, threat profiling, and risk assessment. In the afternoon session, they will learn the fundamentals of Security Operations Centres (SOC), including how organisations monitor and respond to cyber threats in real time.
Day 4: Introduction to Incident Response (AM) and Penetration Testing (PM)
In the morning session, interns will learn the fundamentals of Incident Response and Management, including how organisations prepare for, detect, and respond to cyber threats. In the afternoon session, they will learn the fundamentals of Penetration Testing, including how ethical hackers simulate cyberattacks to identify and fix security vulnerabilities.
Day 5: Reflection (AM) and Final Assessment (PM)
In the morning, interns will reflect on their experiences throughout the internship, selecting one specialisation that interests them the most and writing a 300-word reflection on its significance in cybersecurity. In the afternoon, interns will complete a final assessment quiz with 25 multiple-choice questions covering all topics from the internship. A pass mark of 80% is required, with opportunities for retakes if necessary.
Certification
This internship meets international standards and reflects the global nature of cybersecurity. Upon successful completion, interns will receive a certificate of participation as proof of their internship.
